Who is Michelle Schroeder-Gardner?

I have been reading Michelle Schroeder-Gardner’s blog Making Sense of Cents off and on for the past few years. I first found her on Pinterest when I was looking for information on paying down debt. Her income reports always seemed so relatable as she worked her side hustles to pay off her student loan debt.

Michelle’s income reports got bigger and bigger over the last few years. In fact, I remember reading February’s account and being amazed that she was almost at $50,000 a month! That is more than my husband and I make in a year!

I decided to start a blog of my own this spring, figuring even if I only ever made $500 in a month it would help my family so much. That is when I saw Michelle had come out with a class, Making Sense of Affiliate Marketing. I jumped on the chance to learn all about how she was making so much money.

So what is affiliate marketing?

Basically, it is being rewarded by a company for sending them business or leads. There are thousands of companies that pay you to promote their products and services, it works with any niche and you don’t have to be “salesy.”

This six module course includes everything you need to know about affiliate marketing. From what it is and how it works, to the best ways to incorporate it onto your website and how to stay legal. From Michelle’s site:

This course explains all of the ins and outs, so you are never left wondering where to go next when creating and implementing your affiliate marketing strategy.”

I have been slowly working through all the lessons and finished last week. There is so much information I will be going through the whole class again to make sure I got everything! Each module contains worksheets and step by step instructions. (I may have used the worksheet entitled Creating the Perfect Affiliate Review to write this post…but I’m not saying!)

All the lessons are text based, which I love! I can never get my kids to be quiet enough that I can watch a video. Some of the lessons are quick to read through and implement, and some of them are quite a bit of work.

There are also so awesome bonuses included. My favorite was the Pinterest lesson from Rosemarie Groner of The Busy Budgeter. She lays out her whole Pinterest strategy including links to videos showing how to uses Boardbooster. I have changed my whole approach to Pinterest and my followers have been skyrocketing!

Are you seeing a trend? If you have a blog, or want to start a blog that makes money, this course is for you. At $197 it is a deal too. You could easily make that money back in your first month!

I have not made money yet…but I have not implemented all the suggestions yet either. I only finished the course last week, so give me another month and I am sure to see some income. It does take work! Don’t think this is a course to get rich quick. You will have to work on many aspects of your blog, and do a lot of writing to make this work.

Truthfully, even if it takes longer than a month to see a return this class gave me a great understanding of how to add things to my blog now that will benefit me for years to come. Michelle makes the case to build things into my site, like a Resource Page, that will bring traffic from Pinterest for a long time. So even if you are a brand new blogger this course is worth the time and money.

What about if you are an establish blogger? Are you making money? If not, then you will learn a ton from this class too.

What else?

The class is self paced. I took about a month to go through everything, but that is mostly because I had to work around so many other things. You could go through all the information in a few days if you wanted, although it might take a little longer to put everything in to practice.

Michelle is giving you lifetime access to this class, so you can take your time to go through it. I will be going through it again now and then I think I will come back in a few months and double check that I am doing everything correctly.
