Bullet Journal for Business
I have been doing some business tracking in my bullet journal since I started but I have been looking for inspiration on better ways to track things. I have both a blog and a virtual assistant business so I wanted to find spreads that would help me in both businesses.
I thought all of you might like to see some of the cool things I have found!
What is a Bullet Journal?
In case you are just hearing this term, a bullet journal is basically a DIY planner. The bullet journal website has a great overview. I have also written about how I use my bullet journal before.
The Bullet Journal (or bujo) can be either a simple productivity tool or a elaborate art journal. Layouts are called spreads and they run the gamete from bullet pointed to-do lists to beautiful lettered journal pages.
Most of my spreads are based on the calendar week and I use them to plan out my daily tasks. I have three running to-do lists, personal, blog and my VA business.
I liked the idea of a separate book for blogging and business and found the perfect thing on a trip to IKEA, it is two notebooks back to back. I am excited to make this in to a book dedicated to my blog and VA business.

Blog and Business Spreads
There are so many spreads out there for bloggers and business owners. I have been looking around and getting inspiration for the last week. I have managed to set up a few pages between watching kiddos and getting ready for the big Fall Foliage Festival in my town this weekend.
One of the first spreads I decided to add was a page to track big accomplishments each month. I always have a hard time remembering my wins and focus just on how much there is to do so this would be a good thing for me to track.
I am also moving my Blog Post Ideas page over, plus my Blog Stat Tracker. I have set up a month at a glance page and Monthly and Weekly pages for tasks that are repetitive.
Another idea I have is to track my group Pinterest Boards and their re-pin rates over time. I am trying to figure out what other social media to track but haven’t decided yet.
One of the things I love about my bullet journal is that flexibility. I can add spreads whenever I want!
For my Virtual Assistant journal I have also added a monthly calendar and then pages with repetitive tasks for each client. I plan on migrating these tasks to my personal bujo each week as they come due.
I am also creating a page with my responsibilities for each client and my hourly or package rate. I keep track of my expenses and income at Wave so I don’t think I will track it in my bujo.

I love the idea of bullet journals. It doesn’t work for me – but I know many that really enjoy them.

What do you use for planning and organization?
Lori says
I’ve created a customized planner that works great to run my businesses from home. I use a little notebook for meal planning, brainstorming, etc. I started out trying to use the notebook as a bullet journal, but it turned into a meal plan, grocery list, and brainstorming sheets – and not much else.

That’s awesome! What does your customized planner cover?

It sounds like using a bullet journal could be a great tool. I will have to look into it.
Emma says
You should! It has really changed my life.

I am such a pen and paper planner! I have my regular planner where I write EVERYTHING, then I have my blog journal and I do something very similar, where I keep lists of all things blogging related! It’s super helpful for me to have it all written down in ONE spot!
Emma says
I love having everything in one spot, keeps me sane!

I really like the idea of creating a spread to track Pinterest group boards! I would love to see what you come up with. So far I’m just using my bullet journal to track blog milestones and monthly stats, but I’d really like to add more. Thanks for the ideas!

I will be sure to post when I have more spreads done!
